Mindmap on Genres that games use, there are lots of categories of genres and they all have smaller more specific categories that come from them. When making this mindmap I had to think about not only what types of games can be made but games that have already been made and how they worked from a genre into a massive hit seller.
Themes of video games are the main thing in making a game because it allows you to see where your story will begin and where it will end and where it is set. The theme is something you choose first when making a game and allows you to work on the game with that theme in mind.
