Ship Mood Broad:

This is my mood broad for ships and other equipment found with them, I chose lots of these images because of the the shapes and colours. These ships have complex looks but when looked at they can be broken down into different parts and put together.
Landing Pad Broad:
This is the mood broad for my landing pad, showing different shapes and ways of landing the aircraft on the pad. I used some of these to inspire my landing pad as well as my scene.
Ship blockout:

I began with this image using the crop tool to cut out the top schematic to draw block out my ship.
This schematic helped a lot with the block out allowing easy use and view of the ship the only problem i had was that i did not have a side view.
Creating the block out was simple and gave me a base idea of what i was creating, this allowed me to use skills i had picked up from work that i had done before.
I used a simple plane to make the wing, using shift on a normal plane and dragging a edge making a new 4 sided shape which i then could adjust and move to fit into the blueprint you can see now.

This is the plane after it was fully made and adjusted to give it groves and depth to make the ships wing already come to life. I thought giving the ship depth would allow me to go into more detail with textures.
After making the first plane i began work on the second for the back part of the ship where the spikes and back thrusters are.

Combining two pieces together using a base cylinder to allow me to weld them together so they become one which would allow the ship to start to come together
Duplicating the already made plane and flipping it was a easy way to make the wing stand out by having depth on both the top and the bottom of the ships wings.
By bridging the two planes together allowed me to quickly give the ship some more depth in the sides of the ships wings, adding some more curvature into the spikes allowing them to feel more real then just flat.
Symmetry was a tool i used a lot in this project because my ship has a exact copy of the wing on the other side i just used symmetry to place it there aligning it to
This shows the symmetry line allowing me to copy over the wing onto the other side. Making time of development shorter. Same thing was done to to the cylinder in the middle.
Adding more and more detail to the objects using tools like like extrude polygon, allowing me to make the sphere have depth also adding a unique look to it.
This is just made by extruding polygons on the base of the sphere giving it that grove look making it feel like a power core to me.
Unwrapped ship with all components aligned correctly ready for texture. I unwrapped all of the ships parts by cutting it in half and relaxing it. After finishing with the UV I put the 2 UVs together and make them into one. The Landing pad was a little different but still used the same skill.
Bringing theses UVs into Photoshop I began making the texture using depth with dark and lighter grays. Using effects I made them look higher on the texture and made them stand out.
This shows how some of the texture where lifted using effects to give it depth and a steel look which is what i was going for. The ships wing was lifted using bevel and then added a shiny texture to it using satin.a
I used the same effect on the landing pad adding the effect of depth, colour was the same as the ship so they fit more as a pair. I rendered the landing pad and the ship and this is what they both looked like:
